Zusammenfassung: | This paper describes an adaptation of a methodology called mutual interrogation to an ethnomathematical study on weaving among the Malay tudung saji or food cover weavers. The interrogation was focussed on investigating the mathematical ideas that are relevant to the weaving techniques, framework construction and pattern formation. Using this approach, a three-phase dialogue between several weavers and mathematicians was implemented, with the researcher playing the role of the mediator. The constant interactions between the concepts of the weavers and the conventions of the mathematicians have uncovered several interesting perspectives. |
