Zusammenfassung: | This paper describes an effort to couple a network based simulation of a ship cooling system with a volume element method solver used to compute the temperature distribution within a ship. A notional five zone electric ship configuration is used to illustrate the methodology. Major loads include a radar, turbine generators and a pulse load. A geographic position for each equipment is defined inside the ship geometry. Each zone has a closed fresh water circuit that can be solved independently. Results include water temperature at different locations in the cooling network and spatial temperature distribution inside the hull. The maximum temperature calculated inside the ship dropped from ~700K in the no-cooling scenario to ~320K when the cooling was active. |
