Zusammenfassung:This paper deals with the aspects of stability assessment for the VSC HVDC transmission systems that are especially relevant for this technology when applied on a large scale. It focuses on the control strategies for the VSC HVDC transmission necessary to reach a full integration of large offshore wind farms into the power system operation while minimizing the critical situations for the power system operation and guaranteeing the required stability level. The main goal of this investigation is to assess the fault ride through (FRT) capabilities of such complex systems. For this purpose different emergency control strategies for VSC HVDC, such as the reduction of power generation by wind turbines using a voltage based information carrier, will be analyzed. The chosen method will be simulated and its results evaluated regarding aspects such as response time and reliability of the control strategy.
