Zusammenfassung:Proxy Mobile IPv6 has been developed as a network-based mobility management protocol. This new protocol enables a mobile node to change its point of attachment without its own mobility signaling. That is, network entities provide the mobility service for the mobile node. In this paper, we introduce a new handover process designed for improving handover performance in terms of handover latency. The proposed handover process allows to inform the home network prefix assigned to a moving mobile node to the new network and receive data packets destined for the mobile node immediately. We evaluate the handover latency of the proposed one compared to that of Proxy Mobile IPv6. The conducted analysis results confirm that the proposed handover process yields the reduced handover latency compared to that of Proxy Mobile IPv6 and also prevents data packet loss.
