On air upgrade for digital television set-top boxes

This paper presents a mechanism proposal of on air download software update for the Brazilian DTV (digital television) system. A proof of concept was implemented on a Linux based set-top box. Analyses were conducted considering download robustness and the maximum downloading rate.
