Zusammenfassung: | In summary, we have proposed and demonstrated the feasibility of a 60-km extendedreach PON system for broadband access in rural areas using a dual-fibre architecture. In the proposed system, each subscriber is serviced by two fibres with symmetric upstream and downstream traffic at a data rate up to 2.5 Gb/s at 1550 nm. The proposed scheme uses purely passive components in the filed, while providing a sufficient bandwidth for demanding multimedia services. The use of high-end transceivers (equivalent to GPON class-C standard) enables our proposed system to provide broadband access to 99% of the population in rural areas without signal re-amplification. The ease of implementation of EDFAs at the central office allows simple system upgrade for future network expansion. |
