Zusammenfassung:The paper investigates different approaches used to estimate the degree of self-similarity, Hurst parameter, in broadband satellite communications. The estimated Hurst parameter along with the estimated arrival rate and queue status could be used to regulate traffic destined to a particular downlink queue. It is shown that neural network estimation of Hurst parameter will benefit us in terms computational complexity and implementation compared to other approaches.
