Zusammenfassung: | Beyond third generation (B3G) mobile communication systems may allow users to simultaneously launch multiple multimedia applications with very diverse quality of service (QoS) requirements. In order to achieve resource efficiency, if two applications of the same user have different bit-error-rate (BER) constraints, depending on the multi-user mutiple access technology, the symbols of these two applications need to be transmitted using, either different frequency sub-bands, or different times, or different codes, or different combinations of these. We derive achievable user-throughput regions (AUTRs) for time division (TD), frequency division (FD), and code division (CD) application media access (AMA). These AUTRs are based on a capacity formula, which takes into account the BER of each application. This is a novelty with regard to existing works, where only the average signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is used, regardless of users' applications. Moreover, the existing works treat multi-user system capacity, while we focus on the capacity achievable by a user with multiple applications. These AMA techniques are also compared in terms of complexity and implementability. |
