Zusammenfassung: | Companies that are able to develop products which can adapt to uncertainties in the turbulent markets and serve a broad range of customer requirements are able to win on the battle fields. In order to leap forward in todaypsilas tough markets, one effective approach for designing a product is to use a platform strategy. Development of flexible architectures is the key core competency required for deriving effective platform extensions. This paper presents in detail, development and use of architectural software patterns to support controlling a product platform in high throughput screening automation systems. The product mentioned here, namely Sciclone, was first developed in the late dasia90s and transitioned into a product platform in order to meet the fluid requirements of emerging markets. During this transition, the control software of the product was the main concern, and it required a significant effort to re-architect to support the new platform and platform extensions planned, in order to capture share in emerging pharmaceutical and biotechnology markets. |
