Zusammenfassung:It is possible to conduct meaningful SGEMP and SREMP system tests in chambers whose radii are less than approximately twice the smallest system dimensions. The use of low-z coatings on the walls, appropriately designed damper grids, and the greatest possible X-ray beam collimation, allow the missile surface currents induced by electron emission from chamber walls, the entrance foil, and wall-reflected fields to be kept within a factor of two of the value of direct, X-ray induced surface fields. These results are not dependent on X-ray pulse fluence, time history or energy spectrum, or on the air pressure value at which the test is carried out.
