Zusammenfassung:In a joint theoretical-experimental program to determine the AURORA environment, amplitude and pulse shape discrepancies were found between fields calculated with the AUR3D finite difference code and the measured surface current and charge density. Simple models traced the problem to an over-estimation of the conductivity gradient near the hot spot. Both electric and magnetic fields now show much better agreement with experiment, but further work should be done to include the divergence of the Compton current due to surface effects and the geometry of AURORA's four recessed sources
