Zusammenfassung:The work in this paper is presenting circuits for pulse generation and shaping of pulses for UWB applications. The pulse generation is based on the principle of sending the same pulse over two paths; one traveling straight faces a step recovery diode (SRD) diode while the other is being reflected after meeting the properly terminated short end of a shunt stub, which returns back to the same point inverted pulse with a travel delay. The reflected and the incident pulses meet to generate a narrow pulse of duration almost equal to the two-way travel time of pulse over the stub. The generated pulse properly matched to a smoothing circuit which in fact a high pass filter, which is designed with a transfer function that filters out the trailing and leading tails of the pulses in order not only to function as shaping circuits, but also help reducing the ringing levels of the generated pulses. In other words the rising and falling edges are allowed to continue sharpening the pulses up with more reduced low frequency components. All the above stages of circuits presented in this work are studied through simulation results using SPICE.
