Zusammenfassung:Detection of latent fingerprints using lipophilic and polycationic polymer chitosan has been explored. The gold nanoparticle deposition on chitosan treated latent fingerprints enhances contrast, making the fingerprint identification possible. Chitosan being the second most abundant natural polymer, this technique can be an inexpensive and efficient method for fingerprint enhancement and its subsequent detection. This simple technique has a potential of immediate application in forensic science.
