Zusammenfassung:Techniques for tomographic image reconstruction from acoustic wave measurements in anisotropic media are investigated. Of particular importance is the ability to account for three critical factors: (1) the directional dependence of acoustic velocity due to anisotropy, (2) energy flux deviation, and (3) ray bending due to material inhomogeneity. Results are presented from inhomogeneous materials with known material anisotropy. Tomograms obtained from both synthetic and measured wave propagation data are shown to illustrate the effect of experimental uncertainty on the accuracy of the reconstruction process. The effect of ray bending on image reconstruction is demonstrated in a series of samples with a controlled variation in the degree of material inhomogeneity.< >
