Zusammenfassung: | The report considers the problem of inadvertent generator energization, the hazard to the generator and turbine, and the major dedicated protection schemes used within the industry to detect this condition. It is concluded that inadvertent energizing of large synchronous generators has significantly increased within the industry as generating stations have become more complex. The major protection schemes in service in the US vary because the operating practices and protection philosophies of utilities using them are different. It is suggested that protection engineers must assess the risks and determine the impact on protection of their own company's operating practices prior to deciding which scheme best suits their particular needs.< > |
