Zusammenfassung: | Describes the development of a cycloconverter drive and the advantages accrued from the use of ASIC devices in its development. Two application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) were designed to implement a new control strategy based on total digital ASIC cycloconverter control. The two ASICs were produced using electronic design automation (EDA) packages for design, simulation and layout, prior to fabrication. analogue simulation of the power electronic drive circuits was also carried out using ACCUSIM. These techniques considerably reduce the size of the control equipment for the induction motor (a reduction of 16 to 1 being achieved using ASICs and printed circuit board (PCB) design techniques), the time to prototype and the confidence in the final product.< > |
