Zusammenfassung:In order to have effective electromagnetic shielding, an enclosure should ideally have no opening. But in daily application, the enclosure needs to have perforations in order to allow ventilation, wire connections and etc. These apertures and cable connection will compromise the shielding effectiveness of the enclosure. This paper is written with the aim of verifying experimentally the effects of wire penetration to the shielding effectiveness of an enclosure. Measurement results indicate that the length of externally exposed wire does not have a very significant effect on the electric field being coupled to the inside of the enclosure. Peak amplitudes are observed to be directly related to the resonance frequencies of the enclosure. Further investigation will be carried out by analytical study and modeling of the problem.
