Zusammenfassung: | A radiation detector capable of providing both spectroscopic and directional information would allow users to more rapidly identify and localize radioactive sources, ultimately reducing the time spent in a radiation field. The directional gamma-ray probe (DGRP) described here is a unique, single-hand operated, portable, lightweight gamma detector for use in a high gamma-ray field. It contains two sensors, one providing directional information and the other for spectroscopy, which are housed in a plastic molded enclosure designed to meet weather resistant requirements and decontamination considerations. This paper will describe design features, software development and detector response of this novel radiation detector |
