Zusammenfassung: | Redundancy reduction processes have proven highly effective in compressing the bandwidth of pictorial data. Compression is achieved by approximating the video time function with polynomial sequences. This paper presents experimental results obtained by computer simulation, demonstrating the effectiveness of redundancy reduction when applied to different examples of pictorial material. Some of the practical considerations in implementing bandwidth compression systems for both black-and-white and color television are also discussed. Based upon these simulation results and laboratory investigations, it is estimated that video bandwidth reductions from two to four can be accomplished with the present state-of-the-art. |
