Zusammenfassung: | This work aims to draw parallels between systems engineering (SE) as applied in the "technical" world on complex (physical) systems, versus similar processes and principles applied on organisational level. Concepts like business design, organisational development and enterprise architecture will hence be referred to. The domain of SE is thoroughly described in literature and proven in practice and is hence the point of departure. The important role of information in the modern organisation, providing (complex) systems and services to customers, are also discussed. An enterprise architecture (EA) framework is addressed with specific reference to the enterprise information architecture (EIA). An SE approach is proposed to create an EA for a company. The roles of business process modeling as well as business object modeling are addressed. No recipe is offered, only some guiding principles. This work is not an academic report, but rather practical experience and lessons learned while executing projects. |
