Zusammenfassung:An informal 'opportunistic' laboratory supplement to semiconductor manufacturing education is described. This approach evolved at San Jose State University in conjunction with the traditional curriculum. The curriculum and program resulted from interaction with local semiconductor companies. The traditional undergraduate and the graduate curricula are listed and briefly discussed. The Master of Science degree, a cross-disciplinary program used by practicing semiconductor manufacturing engineers as part time students, is discussed in detail. The Center for Electronic Materials and Devices, a research center with a focus on education, is described. Laboratory short course on microfabrication held in the IC Labs at San Jose State University are attended by professionals from industry.< >
