Zusammenfassung:A 3D scanner creates a large amount of point data during modeling process and, therefore, it requires point data reduction. However, during such process, model details, like the relief and surface pattern, is often removed. Texturing can add surface details that are usually too complex to be modeled directly using images, numerical functions or other source of data. Bump mapping can represent three-dimensional details using shading effects. This study focuses on the generation of bump maps from 3D scan data to compensate for details that are lost during the modeling process. The bump maps introduced here are easily recognized since they are generated after the model is subdivided by planar and cylindrical base planes. This facilitates the modification of bump maps and their further application to other models.
