Zusammenfassung:Huge amounts of information and services distributed over a wide range of network facilities to different communities and end-user devices require an efficient framework for transparent and augmented delivery of digital content. One of those end-user devices will be digital television (digiTV) equipment, to which entities of content win have to be delivered in adequate, authenticated, and copyright protected manner. For this purpose MPEG-21 provides an abstract framework for performing the life cycle of digital items (DI). Based on this framework we researched use scenarios covering different elements of the MPEG-21 standard by introducing a digital broadcast item (DBI). One major aspect was a consumer oriented design approach, where the "wrapping" of items is the visual representation on different end-user devices. This research work has been done within the future interaction television project at the Digital Media Institute Tampere.
