Zusammenfassung:An empirical investigation of software reuse has shown that programmers, untrained in reuse, cannot accurately assess the worth of reusing software components and do not understand which features contribute most significantly to the cost of software reuse. The authors report the results of a follow-on investigation and show that education and assessment tools help. However, education and tools must be properly administered. Education should precede the use of tools and tools should provide only the information needed.< >
