Zusammenfassung: | Purpose: The study aims at analysing nursing students’
tendency to violence.
Materials and Methods: The population of the
descriptive and cross-sectional study consisted of 1329
nursing students who continue their education at
Cukurova University Faculty of Health Sciences Nursing
Department. Without applying any further criteria, the
whole population was included in the study. The sample
consisted of 789 students (59.3%). “Personal Information
Form” and “Violence Tendency Scale (VTS)” were used
as data collection tools.
Results: Mean age of the students was20.58±1.88 and
68.9% of them were female. VTS average score for the
participants was 38.79±9.32 and according to the scale
71.1% have “Low” level of tendency to violence.
Statistically significant correlations were found between
students’ average scores for VTS and their year at the
university, their gender, smoking and alcohol
consumption, history of inflicting violence on themselves
or others and being subject to violence.
Conclusion: The study indicated that nursing students’
tendency to violence is low and the students who have
experiences of inflicting violence on themselves or others
or have been exposed to violence before have higher
tendency to violence when compared with the students
who do not have such experiences. |
