Zusammenfassung: | In this study, the relationship between the students’ study skills, their teaching programs, fields at the university placement exam and academic achievements were analyzed. The study was carried out by one of the survey models called the relational survey model. The sampling of the study was made up 972 teacher candidates who were chosen among all candidates studying in the teacher education programs of an Education Faculty. Survey of Study Habits and Attitudes was used to bring out their study skills and the data was analysed using one way and two way Manova tests in SPSS program. With the data obtained, it was found that the study skills of the teacher candidates revealed the differences according to their program of study and there was a meaningful difference between their study skills and academic achievements. Moreover, it was determined that the teacher candidates had lower and moderate level study skills. Problems that prevent students from studying were also identified. In the light of these results, solutions to overcome these problems are presented. |
