Despite the increasing awareness of these OERs among institutions and faculties, there is a low utilization
among undergraduates. Hence, this study investigated the level of utilization of OER for learning among
undergraduates. The study adopted a descriptive method of the quantitative research. 398 respondents were
randomly sampled from 3 purposively selected area of specializations. Hypotheses 1 was tested using
independent t-test while hypotheses 2 was tested using ANOVA. The findings of the study were: (i) A
percentage of undergraduates do not make use of many of the listed OER; and There was a significance
difference among undergraduates based on Gender and Area of Specialization in their Utilization of OER for
learning. The study concluded that there is low adoption of many of the identified OER sites and the others being
used has an average level of utilization. Thus, more awareness and utilization of OER among undergraduates
would improve their learning process and also the quality of conducted studies. The research recommends that
lecturers should encourage students to make use of OER to assist their learning process and improve their
research. |
