Zusammenfassung:The compound N1-phenylhydrazine-1,2-bis(carbothioamide) was synthesised from phenylisothiocyanate reacting with thiosemicarbazide refluxing the mixture in ethanol. The new compound obtained was characterised by various spectral and elemental analyses. It was subjected to antibacterial, antioxidant and brine shrimp lethality bioassay. The compound showed brine shrimp lethality with LC50 value of 12.79 μg which was comparable to vincristine with LC50 value of 0.33 μg. The compound did not exhibit any antimicrobial activity against Gram +ve and Gram −ve organisms, as well as against the tested fungal strains. But very good free radical scavenging activity was observed at concentration range of 0.185–100 μg with IC50 values of 1.43 μg in comparison to reference standard butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) with IC50 value 16.46 μg.
