Le rôle de la géographie urbaine dans l’émergence de la géographie du risque à l’Université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar

The purpose of this article is to study the relationship between urban geography and the geography of risk at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar. The analysis was based on a dual approach. The first, essentially statistical, consisted in listing the urban geography theses defended at UCAD and in France on Senegal from the UCAD digital library and theses.fr. The second, more analytical approach consisted of their scientific exploitation in order to show their relation to the concepts and methods of the geography of risk. This methodology has made it possible to establish the strong dispersion of work both by the defending universities and the territories studied, and the mixed presence of the geography of risk in the structuring works as well as in their legacies. L’objet de cet article est d’étudier la relation entre la géographie urbaine et la géographie du risque à l’Université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar. L’analyse s’est appuyée sur une démarche double. La première, essentiellement statistique, a consisté à recenser les thèses de géographie urbaine soutenues à UCAD et en France sur le Sénégal à partir de la bibliothèque numérique UCAD et de thèses.fr. La seconde approche, plus analytique a consisté à leur exploitation scientifique afin de montrer leur rapport aux concepts et méthodes de la géographie du risque. Cette méthodologie a permis d’établir la forte dispersion des travaux à la fois par les universités de soutenances et les territoires étudiés, et la présence mitigée de la géographie du risque dans les travaux structurants comme dans leurs héritages.
