Zusammenfassung:	Highlights ► The median lethal dose of intraperitoneal citalopram is 102 mg/kg. ► Key-features to explain citalopram-induced death are serotonin syndrome and seizures. ► Citalopram induces an increase in the inspiratory time with an expiratory braking. ► A dose-related decrease in platelet serotonin and increase in plasma serotonin occur. ► Pre-treatments with diazepam and cyproheptadine are protective in citalopram overdose.
