The automation of the monitoring of a new clarification technique in a public drinking water treatment plant was performed by combining several modeling methods. The water quality was defined by an index based on several chemical and physical measurements. It was then possible to assess the response surfaces for these chemical determinations as a function of water quality and of the chemical treatment used.
