Zusammenfassung:•Immiscible alloys without any segregation were manufactured under 29T of HSMF.•Stokes and Marangoni movement led to the segregation under HSMF lower than 17.4T.•Microstructures of 29T depended on nucleation, growth and Marangoni migration.•Stokes sedimentation was completely suppressed at 29T of HSMF. Compositions located in the metastable miscibility gap of BiZn immiscible alloy was investigated under the effect of high static magnetic field (HSMF). BiZn immiscible alloys with uniformly distribution of solid particles in the matrix were obtained under HSMF with 29T. It is found that the solid Bi particles were uniformly distributed in the matrix because of complete suppression of Stokes sedimentation under the effect of HSMF with 29T. Slight segregation caused by Marangoni migration still remained at the edge of ingot solidified under 29T. Segregation in the alloys solidified under 0T, 1T and 6T was mainly owning to Stokes sedimentation, but that solidified under 17.4T and 29T was controlled by nucleation, growth and Marangoni migration processes of liquid droplets. The segregation mechanism under the effects of HSMF was discussed.
