Zusammenfassung:Procedures for simulating of the relative complex permittivity of building materials in the Ku band and their experimental validations are presented. The procedures of relative complex permittivity extraction are comprised of two parts. The first part is the estimation of the relative complex permittivity of each material under test (MUT) using Newton-Raphson method from the measured values of scattering parameters by vector network analyzer (VNA) across rectangular waveguide (RWG) cell. The second step uses the measured values of relative complex permittivity to simulate the measurement structure with the three-dimensional electromagnetic simulator Ansoft HFSS. The simulated scattering parameters are then used to retrieve the relative complex permittivity. Finally, the percentages of errors between the simulated and measured results are estimated. The experimental and simulated results of the relative complex permittivity of the tested materials show a good convergence, which guarantees the application of the simulation methodologies for the prediction of dielectric properties of different building materials across the Ku band.
