Automatic Determination of Wind Profiles with Generalized SCIDAR

We present an iterative, potentially automated method for deriving wind profiles from generalized scintillation detection and ranging (SCIDAR) measurements, which can work in a nonsupervised mode. Zusammenfassung:We present an iterative, potentially automated method for deriving wind profiles from generalized scintillation detection and ranging (SCIDAR) measurements, which can work in a nonsupervised mode. It is an extension of our CLEAN‐based method previously developed for \documentclass{aastex} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{bm} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{pifont} \usepackage{stmaryrd} \usepackage{textcomp} \usepackage{portland,xspace} \usepackage{amsmath,amsxtra} \usepackage[OT2,OT1]{fontenc} \newcommand\cyr{ \renewcommand\rmdefault{wncyr} \renewcommand\sfdefault{wncyss} \renewcommand\encodingdefault{OT2} \normalfont \selectfont} \DeclareTextFontCommand{\textcyr}{\cyr} \pagestyle{empty} \DeclareMathSizes{10}{9}{7}{6} \begin{document} \landscape $C^{2}_{N}$ \end{document} profile determination. The algorithm is based on a morphological analysis of the cross‐correlation function of consecutive scintillation irradiance frames, with the introduction of some knowledge from the \documentclass{aastex} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{bm} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{pifont} \usepackage{stmaryrd} \usepackage{textcomp} \usepackage{portland,xspace} \usepackage{amsmath,amsxtra} \usepackage[OT2,OT1]{fontenc} \newcommand\cyr{ \renewcommand\rmdefault{wncyr} \renewcommand\sfdefault{wncyss} \renewcommand\encodingdefault{OT2} \normalfont \selectfont} \DeclareTextFontCommand{\textcyr}{\cyr} \pagestyle{empty} \DeclareMathSizes{10}{9}{7}{6} \begin{document} \landscape $C^{2}_{N}$ \end{document} profiles, which are determined from the autocorrelation of those frames. This method was successfully tested on data from the site‐testing observations made at San Pedro Mártir in 2000, even for the most difficult cases.
