Zusammenfassung: | We report on an experimental study of a dilute gas of steel spheres colliding inelastically and excited by a piston performing sinusoidal vibration, in low gravity. Using improved experimental apparatus, here we present some results concerning the collision statistics of particles on a wall of the container. We also propose a simple model where the non-classical statistics obtained from our data are attributed to the boundary condition playing the role of a 'velostat' instead of a thermostat. The significant differences from the kinetic theory of usual gas are related to the inelasticity of collisions. |
