Zusammenfassung: | Category learning is the ability to learn to group things and situations into categories, in order to enable the selection of appropriate behaviors. Functional neuroimaging has identified multiple neural systems involved in category learning, including higher-order perceptual cortex, learning and memory systems supported by the basal ganglia and the hippocampus, and frontoparietal cognitive control systems. Neuroimaging also provides insights into how these neural systems change over time as learning progresses and as performance becomes automatic. |
