Zusammenfassung: | Introduction: Radiotherapy is widely used in cancer treatment but often causes side effects such as dermatitis, mucositis, and acute proctitis. Aloe Vera has been used for its therapeutic properties in inflammatory conditions, and this study aims to describe its effectiveness in managing radiotherapy-induced adverse effects. Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of Aloe Vera in preventing and treating radiotherapy-induced side effects in cancer patients. Methodology: An integrative literature review was conducted using PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane databases, including articles published between 2004 and 2022, focusing on randomized clinical trials, self-controlled, and double- blind studies. Results: Eight studies were included in the review, 50% of which were randomized clinical trials. The results showed that Aloe Vera has potential in preventing acute proctitis and mucositis but did not show significant benefits in preventing radiotherapy-induced dermatitis. Conclusion: Aloe Vera appears promising in managing certain radiotherapy side effects, but further research is needed to confirm its efficacy and explore its use in different clinical contexts. Keywords: Radiotherapy; aloe vera; dermatitis; mucositis; proctitis.
