Zusammenfassung: | The present research aimed to identify the actions of implementation of the succession process and definition of successors, as well as the factors that facilitate and hinder the succession in a family transport company, located in the municipality of Araxa. The research approach chosen for this study was qualitative. As to the ends, the research was descriptive and also exploratory for dealing with possibilities of studying a company still in the process of succession. The unit to be analyzed is a family-owned company that operates in the transport services sector, installed in the city of Araxa in the interior of Minas Gerais, called Vera Cruz Transportes. The reason for choosing the company is given by the importance and influence on the local economy in the 60s when it was founded. The method used was a single case study, in order to analyze the succession process of Vera Cruz Transportes, from the perspective of family members, owners and managers of non-family members and external consultants. For data collection, semi-structured interviews and document analysis were used. We interviewed seven people connected to the company who are part of the Board of Directors, three family members, two external executives hired, an external counselor and a consultant responsible for the implementation of the succession process. In addition to the data collected in the interviews, documents referring to the company were analyzed in the website, murals and institutional newspapers, folders and flyers, as well as institutional video, which constituted the documentary data for this research. The data was analyzed using the content analysis technique. In the interviews carried out, it was evident the performance of the youngest son, exercising the position of Director of Marketing and Legal. In the interviewees' perception, there were no conflicts regarding the succession process. |
