Zusammenfassung:Project risk management (PRM) is widely used worldwide. In Brazil, this knowledge is still little applied by a portion of professionals working in the construction sector, in micro and small enterprises (MSEs), which are important for the economy. The objective of this article is to identify the critical practices for the implementation of PRM in MSEs in the construction sector, in the Southeast of Brazil. In this study, a questionnaire with 25 assertions about PRM practices was developed and sent to 153 professionals, with 79 valid responses. The Expectation Maximization algorithm and the Normalization Test were applied, using SPSS 21.0 and EXCEL software. The results were normalized to identify the critical practices. Of the total of 25 practices, 6 of them had normalized importance values equal to or greater than 80%, showing that these practices are very important for PRM. All practices of hypothesis H1: "Project Management practices assist in the implementation of PRM in MSEs" were fully confirmed, since the normalized results of the practices that make up this group were greater than 0.5. The other hypotheses (H2, H3, H4 and H5) were only partially met. Most of the professionals who contributed to this work recognize the relevance of PRM for civil construction projects, which may contribute to improving the performance of MSEs.
