Zusammenfassung: | This work focuses on the women pastoral workers who worked in the Pelotas Health Ministry between 1990 and 2000. The aim is to understand the meaning attributed by women to their participation in pastoral health care in Pelotas during this period, more specifically by identifying the actions developed by pastoral health care in that context, how these women acted in the actions developed at the time, as well as understanding how participation in these actions affects the self-esteem and well-being of these women. To this end, a bibliographical review of the subject was carried out, based on the existing literature on the subject. It also used biographical research techniques (life history) and semi-structured interviews with three women, pastoral health workers in Pelotas, in order to complement the information and research data, to examine their perception of their work in pastoral health work and their understanding of their role and political participation in society. Thus, the data presented revealed a little about the profile, trajectory and participation of each of the interviewees. We can see a high degree of commitment and engagement from these women in pastoral activities, largely due to their backgrounds, family ties and the influence they had from their own parents. The importance and role that these women's pastoral activities have played in their communities can also be seen.
