Zusammenfassung: | INTRODUCTION: The Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) is an acute inflammatory polyneuropathy of the Peripheral Nervous System, being a rare neurological disease ans is characterized by a mediation of the individual's imune system against antigens um the body itself. The cause of teh disease is not yet well known, Among it's clinical manifestations are progressive loss of motricity in the individual, non reflexive and sensory anomalies. OBJECTIVES: To elucidate the pathophysiology and immunological processes of Guilliain-Barre Syndrome, as well as it's clinical manifestations, diagnostic methods and it's treatment/prognosis. METHODS: Integrative literature review about Guillain-Barre Syndrome by the Scielo and PubMed databases. RESULTS: six articles were analyzed between 2010 and 2019, in the databases consulted regarding recent discoveries of GBS transmission and treatment, as well as clinical, laboratory amd epidemiological aspects of the disease. CONCLUSION: GBS its considered the biggest cause of acute generalized paralysis right after poliomyelitis erradication. The disease's therapy bases on plasmapheresis and IVIg, however 20% of the cases end up having unsatisfactory prognosis. Futhermore, the importance of investing in new therapeutic measures--envisioning lowering side-effects and expanding T lymphocyte actions must be emphasised. Keywords: Guillain-Barre syndrome; acute inflammatory polyneuropathy; polyradiculoneuropathy; Miller F syndrome. CONCLUSAO: A SGB e considera |
