THE IMPORTANCE OF THE HEALTH MANAGER IN THE MANAGEMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES PALLIATIVE CARE FOR ONCOLOGY PATIENTS: A REVIEW INTEGRATIVE LITERATURE/ A IMPORTANCIA DO GESTOR EM SAUDE NA GESTAO DE SERVICOS DE CUIDADOS PALIATIVOS A PACIENTES ONCOLOGICOS: UMA REVISAO INTEGRATIVA DE LITERATURA/LA IMPORTANCIA DEL GERENTE DE SALUD EN LA GESTION DE LOS SERVICIOS DE SALUD CUIDADOS PALIATIVOS PARA PACIENTES DE ONCOLOGIA: UNA REVISION LITERATURA INTEGRATIVA

Objective: To describe the importance of health managers in managing palliative care services for cancer patients. Methods: This is an integrative literature review carried out between August and September 2023. We searched the databases of the Virtual Health Library (VHL) and found studies in six databases: MEDLINE, LILACS, BDENF, IBECS, Coleciona SUS and PAHO-IRIS. After applying the established criteria, nine articles were selected. Results: The results of this study revealed that manager positions in palliative care services are held by professionals with diferente backgrounds, but that in most cases it is held by nurses. Six main functions of the manager in palliative care for cancer patients were highlighted: Resource management, Intersectionality, Advocacy, Team training, Quality improvement and Planning and development. The results show that studies on this subject are incipiente and need to be expanded. Final considerations: The review indicated that professional qualifications and government support are crucial to the success of palliative care services. Health managers face challenges, including nurse overload, lack of management training and deficiencies in palliative care training at universities. Keywords: Palliative care; health management; oncology; cancer. Objetivo: Descrever a importancia dos gestores em saude na gestao de servicos de cuidado paliativo a pacientes oncologicos. Metodos: Trata-se de revisao integrativa da literatura, realizada entre agosto e setembro de 2023. Foram investigadas as bases de dados da biblioteca virtual em saude (BVS) e encontrado estudos em seis bases, MEDLINE, LILACS, BDENF, IBECS, Coleciona SUS e PAHO-IRIS. Apos a aplicacao dos criterios estabelecidos, foram selecionados nove artigos. Resultados: Os resultados deste estudo revelaram que os cargos de gestor nos servicos de cuidado paliativo sao ocupados por profissionais com diferentes formacoes, mas que na maior parte dos casos e ocupado por enfermeiros. Destaca-se seis principais funcoes do gestor em cuidados paliativos de pacientes oncologicos, sendo: Gestao de Recursos, Intersetorialidade, Advocacy, Treinamento da equipe, Melhoria de qualidade e Planejamento e desenvolvimento. Os resultados demonstram que estudos sobre essa tematica sao incipientes e necessitam ser ampliados.
