Zusammenfassung: | Composite materials are emerging as promising alternatives in engineering, offering robust and versatile solutions for various applications. Notably, the incorporation of industrial waste and plant fibers is distinguished by its sustainability and mechanical strength, fostering the development of novel composites. This study aims to develop composites utilizing red mud and chemically treated bamboo fibers, with a focus on evaluating their tensile mechanical properties. The bamboo fibers were cut and extracted to lengths of 30 mm and subsequently treated with 5% NaOH. For specimen production, full matrix plates and hybrid composites were fabricated. The fiber mass fraction was maintained at 3%, while the red mud content varied among 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%. Post-production, the composite plates were cut according to ASTM D-3039 standards for subsequent mechanical testing. The results demonstrated an approximate 20% increase in the tensile strength of the composites compared to the full matrix. The highest tensile strength was observed in the specimen containing 10% red mud and 3% bamboo fiber, achieving a tensile strength of 28.85 MPa. In conclusion, bauxite residue, combined with bamboo fiber, has proven to be viable raw materials for producing composite materials, significantly enhancing the mechanical strength of the full matrix with readily available and low-cost additives.
