Zusammenfassung:Beliefs about the anxiety experience and its consequences allow us to explain its positive or negative nature. Although there are instruments to measure it in the clinical context, to our knowledge there are no tests involving both components at the workplace. This work analyzes the psychometric properties of the Inventory of Positive and Negative Beliefs about Anxiety through two studies. Study 1 involved 1350 subjects from the general population (Female: 62%; [M.sub.age]=37.52; SD=18.02). Study 2: 422 subjects from general and clinical population (Female: 53.7%; [M.sub.age]=35.58, SD=10.74). Factor analyses allowed the exploration and testing of a bifactorial structure. Evidence of external and discriminant validity was found of a concurrent type and by contrasted groups. The scale showed adequate internal consistency (Alpha>.80). These results provide evidence of validity and reliability of this instrument for its use as a measure of positive and negative anxiety in the general and clinical population.
