Zusammenfassung: | PCOS is a common endocrine metabolic disorder in women of reproductive age with prevalence of 9.13-35% in central India. It is the most common cause of hyper androgenic anovulation, insulin resistance and compensatory hyperinsulinemia. Metabolic syndrome includes obesity, glucose intolerance; dyslipidemia and hypertension are also the common features of PCOS. Aim of the study is to evaluate serum Leptins and serum TSH & lipid profile in patients with PCOS with metabolic syndrome in women diagnosed with PCOS. The study was done in the Department of Biochemistry MGM Medical College & M Y Hospital Indore after ethical approval, 100 patients of age group 18-35 years were chosen, written informed consent was obtained. Confirmed & diagnosed cases of PCOS by history, clinical examination, USG and hormonal assay were chosen. Venous blood sample was and analyzed. Data were presented as mean [+ or -] SD, student t test was applied. In our study we found significantly raised serum leptin with mean [+ or -] S values 32.52 [+ or -] .6.26 (p [less than or equal to] .001), TSH (p [less than or equal to] .001) & lipid profile (p [less than or equal to] .001) levels in patients of PCOS with metabolic syndrome as compared to PCOS only patients. In conclusion, Serum Leptins, TSH & lipid levels are significantly raised in patients of PCOS with Metabolic Syndrome than PCOS patients. Our study suggests need for routine screening for metabolic syndrome in PCOS patients in infertility treatment. |
