Analysis of water from different parts of Mumbai

Water is the most essential component required by body. The quality of water is more important to run smooth routine life of an individual. Drinking water contaminated with unknown, chemical, pollutants etc. So in order to find out the degree of clarity, ascertain the nature of matter in suspension, mineral constituents, excess of any particular constituent as affecting potable quality and general use to detect any organic impurities and to assess palatability, we have taken the project to study pH, total alkalinity, chloride content and hardness. Mineral water samples(5) taken as a control have 1.9 ml of hardness, total alkalinity 0.4ml,chloride content 0.03ml and pH 7 Test samples (10) were carried out whose hardness is 2.48ml,Total alkalinity 3.0ml and chloride content 81.65ml and pH7.3 The results of the studied parameters are within the permissible limits, which is safe for drinking purpose.
