Zusammenfassung: | Introduction: Essential hypertension is a typical example of complex, multifactorial trait and a well studied risk factor for cardiovascular disease. hs-CRP is well known marker of inflammation resulting in atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. Recent studies showed that 25-OH-vitamin-D has an anti-inflammatory role and decreased levels may increase the cardiovascular risk in subjects with essential hypertension. Aims and objectives: Primary objective of this study is to measure 25-OH-vitamin D and hs-CRP levels and to study the association between them in subjects with essential hypertension . Materials and methods: 30 adults with essential hypertension (systolic blood pressure > 90mmHg) and 30 age and sex matched healthy controls both male and female between 24-60 years of age are recruited from General Medicine department of NMCH, Nellore, A.P. 25-OH-Vitamin D levels are assessed by High Performance Liquid Chromatography and hs-CRP is estimated by Turbidometric method. Results : in subjects with essential hypertension 25-OH-vitD levels (mean [+ or -] SD 28.35 [+ or -] 2.05 p |
