Zusammenfassung:The COVID-19 health emergency has refocused attention on the dynamic interconnections between global societies, human systems, and the environment, relaunching the need to "move toward" new existential and living models that are increasingly compatible with environmental sustainability. The school is the place of choice for the consolidation of awareness and the design of virtuous learning paths that can guide cultural change from the perspective of ecological and cultural transition. As a result, education for sustainability has become both a cultural challenge and an educational priority. The article critically examines the concept of 'ecological transition' as a pedagogical category capable of reflecting fractures and continuities, transformations and persistences in order to guide new generations to assume the consciousness of "earthly destiny community" and redesign habitus in everyday life. The contribution emphasizes the strategic role of green leadership processes as transformative vectors for activating pathways of innovation and change in educational institutions from an ecological standpoint. Keywords. Ecological transition - sustainability education - green leadership - school - ecology
