Zusammenfassung:Objective: to analyze the relationship between sleep deprivation and comorbidities affected in women over 50 years of age in postmenopausal studies participating in a group of physical activity in southern Brazil. Mateials and Methods: cross-sectional study conducted with 320 women participating in the Living in Caxias do Sul Project. Women 50 years of age or older were considered as inclusion criteria. An epidemiological questionnaire was applied and anthropometric evaluation of all women interviewed was performed. In the bivariate analysis, to verify the association of independent variables with the outcome, the Chi-Square test was used, with Pearson's p-value for heterogeneity of proportions for dichotomous and nominal categorical variables and linear trend p-value for ordinal categorical variables. Results: The mean hours of sleep was 8.6h, the minimum hours of sleep was 4 and the maximum was 13 hours. The prevalence of sleep deprivation ([less than or equal to] 6 hours) was 5.6%. Most of the sample 72.2% slept from 7 to 9 hours and 22.2% slept more than 10 hours. The deprivation of hours of sleep in women with one or no pregnancies was significant, in relation to women who had three or more pregnancies, as well as the use of diabetes mellitus (DM) medications was significantly higher than those women who slept less than women who did not use medications. Conclusion: in our study, it was observed that the prevalence of sleep deprivation ([less than or equal to] 6 hours) in women was associated with pregnancy and the presence of diabetes.
