Zusammenfassung: | This study aims to provide a critical explanation of the discourse of an urban social movement and to understand how this movement articulates to challenge hegemonic discourses of modern urbanism and to promote discourses that are alternative to urban issues. For this, we operate with Laclau and Mouffe's Theory of Discourse. The empirical field of the research was the collective action of the social movement Urban Rights (DU) in the city of Recife. Data were collected through official documents, interviews and participant observation in the period between 2012 and 2014. The analyzes indicated that the discourse under study is a counter-hegemonic, resistant and combative approach to the urban management model developed in the city of Recife and, specifically, to the "Novo Recife" urban project, affirming an alternative city project ("Recife Possivel"). We have identified social, political and phantasmic logics that underlie and validate the actions of the Urban Rights social movement and its "Recife Possivel", as the articulation of different political subjects and disputing demands around the meaning of urbanism. |
